Participation Engagement and Support Officer FULL TIME
(37 HOURS)
Grade 5 - £26,421 – £28,770
Fixed term until 31st March 2024*
Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), Work & Skills projects are being delivered in Newport to tackle in-work poverty, economic activity, long term unemployment and to offer ESOL language and Essential Skills tuition across the city.
The aim of these projects is to improve skills, motivation, and confidence for participants, so they can consider long term employment opportunities.
This will be achieved by offering assessments and action plans that will lead to relevant training and Support so participants can progress both personally and professionally.
Job Purpose
- To engage individuals and groups in a range of community settings.
- To support and participate in the delivery of community activities and events with the aim of engaging new participants in the programme.
- To promote the support available through the project to generate engagement.
- To support a range of interventions so participants can improve their employability prospects.
- Identify and organise training and capacity building activities as appropriate for participants, within a defined budget and as set out in the project guidance.
- Assist participants to access formal and informal training opportunities and employability support.
- Support and assist with paperwork, evidence collection and analysis for the project.
- To undertake work with other team members that supports participants to prepare for training and employment.

- Possible extension of contract reviewed on an annual basis in line with funding approval
