Job Purpose
As a Parts Procurement Lead, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing a high-level procurement strategy. This is a new department represents an incredible opportunity to shape the processes and systems to facilitate a seamless procurement function within engineering. You will be ensuring timely selection of suppliers, placement of orders and deliveries of materials and services to ensure internal and external customer requirements are met. Researching, cost analysis, inventory control, contract negotiation will be apart of your daily role.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a complete procurement strategy and purchasing system for the engineering department.
- Identify, evaluate, select and manage suppliers including negotiating terms and contracts.
- Secure high-quality components, materials and services required for battery module and pack production while also mitigating supply chain risks.
- Collaborate with quality control and engineering teams to ensure that procured parts meet required quality standards and specifications.
- Seek opportunities to reduce procurement costs through negotiations, supplier diversification, and process improvements.
- Oversee inventory levels to prevent shortages and excess stock, optimising working capital and reducing waste.
- Work on improving supply chain processes and lead times to enhance the efficiency and reliability of part procurement.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
- Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, business, or a related field.
- Proven experience in procurement and supplier management, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering context.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build strong supplier relationships.
- Sound understanding of supply chain processes, inventory management, and cost control.
- Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and quality standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Strong communication, leadership and teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
- Commitment to sustainability and a strong sense of responsibility towards achieving quality and performance goals.
