Carlton Recruitment are working with a Global client to recruit for a Payments Manager, the ideal Payments Manager will come from a Corporate Global Operation.
Your responsibilities will include acting as a payment approver, managing the weekly payment cycle and leading payment-related projects. As someone working in Payment Projects, you will need to be comfortable working independently, managing tasks and collaborating effectively with others. You will also need to communicate regularly with senior managers, directors, and agencies to provide businesses with effective solutions. You will be encouraged to identify ways to improve our services and provide additional opportunities to organisations.
Duties and responsibilities of the Payments Manager:
- To own and drive improvements in the Payments processes and workflows.
- Act as one of the two stages of approval for all payment runs that the department processes
- Ensure that the offshore Payments team is operating effectively so that they can meet agreed service levels
- Drive and review the KPI Dashboards for the Payments processes, communicating feedback and proposing improvements
- Ensure that bank cash postings are being set up and approved on a timely basis, so that supplier accounts in the ERP system are complete, accurate and represent the true position
- Assist the wider Accounts Payable team in managing working capital through management of the payment run schedule and ad hoc payments
- Periodic meetings with their Payments EXL team lead counterparts to discuss team performance, issues arising and communicate process changes and improvements where applicable
- Support the offshore Payments team in contacting and liaising with suppliers and agency employees
Accounts Payable Function
- Working within an onshore AP management team of 18
- Manage relations with key stakeholders in the agency and with key suppliers
- Liaise with the audit and SBOX audit team
- Manage team deliverables, manage query resolution time
- Ensure adherence to the group cashflow management policies, including cashflow forecasting
- Seek the training needs and set training plans for team members and agency employees
- Convene any disciplinary or performance management meetings with team members
- Cover for the team when they are on holiday or on portfolio change
- Support the offshore team in contacting and liaising with agency employees.
- Manage a team of one Accounts Payable Supervisor on a day-to-day basis, including performance management and appraisal process.
- Manage offshore reports through weekly meetings with offshore management team.
- Ensure that the team is sufficiently resourced by redeploying resources as necessary or by identifying and flagging additional resourcing requirements.
- Motivating the team and identify their training needs.
Attributes Required for the Payments Manager
- Strong understanding and experience of risk mitigation (controls) in the accounts payable process.
- Able to design and implement change effectively.
- Excellent communication and numeracy skills.
- Strong mailbox management and organisation
- Must have knowledge of a large ERP system. Microsoft AX beneficial but not essential.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Sarbanes Oxley experience
- Able to learn, understand new systems and technologies.
- Experience in resolving conflicts.
- Experience of training and staff development.
- Confidence in presenting to groups and chairing meetings.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
