Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Fixed term, full-time (35 hours per week) We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Research Fellow to help deliver a cutting-edge research programme within the newly-established Edinburgh Molecular Mechanisms Cluster. The Opportunity: We have shown that molecular quantitative trait loci (molQTL) can reveal specific molecular mediators, cell types and states underlying disease, and lead directly to new, effective therapies. The Edinburgh Molecular Mechanisms Cluster (EMMC) will systematically study single cells from primary human tissues, across a range of perturbation states, to reveal the molecular con- sequences of disease-associated genetic variation. This cross-cutting project combines  precise laboratory techniques with advanced computational modelling. The holder of this post will conduct laboratory studies using ex vivo lung and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) samples to help map molQTL in these disease-relevant clinical tissues.  Ref: Pairo-Castineira, E. et al. The Lancet 400, 359–368 (2022) Your skills and attributes for success:  PhD in Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology or a related subject.  Experienced in primary tissue culture. Excellent organisation and administration skills. Proven ability to reliably deliver quality outputs in a timely and efficient manner. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing across different disciplines.
