Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Contract Type - Fixed Term:  The post is available up to 18 months but has a limited budget. Contract duration will depend on salary offered to the successful candidate. We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to carry out health informatics, based research on people with epilepsy. This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. The Opportunity: The post holder will be a key member of the Epilepsy Research team led by Professor Richard Chin. They will: prepare data for analyses, by exploring the quality of the data and linking together different datasets as needed;  conduct epidemiological analyses, assessing whether there is an association between maternal epilepsy and the health, developmental and educational outcomes of their offspring and whether medication modifies any of these associations; and together with the study team, write up these results into an academic paper; and  engage with the clinical collaborators to facilitate translation of findings into clinical practice Your skills and attributes for success:  PhD or equivalent (or will be shortly awarded a PhD) with related work experience in a relevant discipline e.g. Medical Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Epidemiology or Public Health. Experience in the application of statistical methods to address public health research questions Proven track record of publishing research outputs Experience working with electronic health records  Ability to function well independently and work within a team
