Premises Officer
Granby is a village school in the heart of the city, providing a varied opportunity for the right candidate in a friendly, supportive and child-focused context. The children, staff and governors are looking to appoint an excellent Premises Officer to join our team from May 2024.
Granby has a fascinating history and originally opened in 1889. We are proud to be the custodians of this lovely Victorian building and whilst this is not without its challenges, we want to take good care of it. With around 450 children on roll and a staff of over 90, we have a lot of people to look after too. Our Premises Officer has a very important role to play in doing this.
The working hours for the Premises Officer position are still under consideration. Please indicate in your supporting statement whether you would be interested in full or part-time hours and whether you would be willing to work a split shift, i.e. an early start and late finish with an extended break in the middle of the day.
The Premises Officer is a Level 3 position paid at Grade 6, points 15 to 18, on the local government pay scale. The starting salary will be £29,777 per annum, based on a 52-week per year permanent contract. We may also consider creating a Level 2 position at Grade 4, points 7 to 10. The salary for this position would be £24,294 per annum, pro rata for part-time candidates.
The successful candidate[s] will:
• be an enthusiastic and reliable member of our team.
• look after the site, buildings, fixtures and fittings, plumbing, heating, electrical and mechanical equipment etc, including on-going usage, maintenance, repairs, liaising with and monitoring external contractors.
• arrange security, cleaning, laundry and minor repair or maintenance rosters, liaising with the relevant services as necessary.
• set up and agree call out arrangements with internal or external suppliers for emergency and necessary repair work and monitor contractors.
• maintain and provide appropriate records, procedures and management information for internal and legislative requirements.
• attend appropriate meetings, advising on and contributing to strategic planning, health and safety and specific projects.
• have qualifications and/or substantial experience in more than one craft trade, e.g. plumbing, carpentry, etc
