Hours & Contract: Permanent - 37 hours per week full time

Location: Loxley House, Nottingham – Hybrid working (minimum of 2 days in office following satisfactory induction and probation dependant on service needs)

Closing date: 27th March 2023

Interview date: TBC

You may be aware that in November 2023, Nottingham City Council’s Chief Finance Officer issued a report under Section 114(3) of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 because, in his professional opinion, the council wasn’t able to deliver a balanced budget which is a legal requirement. This does not mean, however, that the council is bankrupt or insolvent.

The financial implications of the Section 114 report have been balanced against the council’s statutory duties, particularly in relation to safeguarding and homelessness, and the funding of this permanent post has been approved by the council’s Spend Control Board.

Do you have a passion for creating positive change in people's lives? Become part of our mission to prioritise our citizens and prevent homelessness through innovative and effective initiatives.

As the Prevention Development Officer, you will play a pivotal role in implementing effective strategies to prevent homelessness. Key responsibilities include actively engaging and supporting households at risk, fostering awareness through strategic partnerships and training programmes, expanding support for survivors of domestic abuse, leading initiatives to address debt-related homelessness, and utilising data-driven approaches for planning and monitoring.

Join us in making a positive impact on our community by preventing homelessness and supporting citizens in their housing needs to ensure compliance and fairness is embedded in our practice. Your dedication will help ensure that compliance and fairness are integral aspects of our practices. Be a driving force in creating a community where everyone has access to secure and stable housing.

Key priorities for the postholder will include;

  • Ability to raise awareness and inspire enthusiasm for a new initiative
  • Proven ability to plan a new initiative and implement a project plan
  • Good operational working knowledge of housing legislation in both the public and private sector
  • Good written and verbal presentation skills, including the ability to write letters and produce reports
  • Commitment to providing a high quality customer focussed service

When applying, candidates should provide a written statement along with their CV outlining their key skills and experiences in the priorities outlined above.
