About WMC/Our Department:
This role sits within the Community team in the Arts and Creative department alongside Productions, Digital Experiences and Creative Learning. We are proud to support communities, young people and artists to work together to create wonderful experiences. The community team works on developing the Community ticketing scheme, cultural celebrations, Public Spaces which includes performances, exhibitions and workshops and our Participatory Budgeting programme which democratises the way we choose work, putting the decisions of individuals and communities at its core.
This year we are excited about continuing our support to Butetown Carnival, growing the community steel pan crew Pantasia, expanding our community ticketing offer and building the Participatory Budgeting programme to commission events, art exhibitions, cultural celebrations and community performance so decisions are no longer made by our team or the wider department.
About the Role and Responsibilities:
- Reporting to our Senior Community Producer Gemma Hicks you will be responsible for two music based projects, steel pans and our new female Punk Band as well as working on the community contribution to Llais.
- You will continue to grow our community ticketing scheme, working with communities to make sure the model is right for them and developing new paid opportunities for communities to support.
- Support with the planning and delivery of Butetown Carnival workshops and parade on Sunday 25th August.
- You will support successful Participatory Budgeting applicants to develop and deliver their projects.
Key Requirements:
- We are looking for someone with at least two years of experience working in community settings or as a project manager delivering with multiple partners and collaborators.
- The role does include some periods where longer hours are worked, this includes carnival weekend, Llais and Cultural Celebrations. There is a flexi system in place to enable time to be taken back.
- We are keen to hear from people with lived experience relating to class and poverty as well as those with protected characteristics.
- This role requires flexibility and includes evening and weekend working.
