Britten Pears Arts is a pioneering music, arts and heritage charity based on the Suffolk coast at two popular, historic visitor destinations: The Red House and Snape Maltings. We emerged from the creative partnership of Benjamin Britten, one of the greatest composers of the 20th century, and his professional and personal partner, singer Peter Pears.
Our founders' vision, that music should be useful and enhance lives, inspires all our activities: our work with local and marginalised communities through to our national leadership roles in the fields of talent development and music for health & wellbeing. The increasingly diverse year-round programme of events reaches out to an ever wider public, and our artist-development work (including the Residencies programme) gives musicians of all backgrounds time, space and support to develop and create.
This Maternity Cover role will be responsible for delivering the Residencies scheduled between June 2024-June 2025. The successful candidate will develop a close working relationship with Residency Artists, be their main liaison person and work closely with each artist to create the most beneficial mix of opportunities for them, in line with the overall direction & vision of the programme. This role reports to the Head of Artist Development and is supported by the Programmes Assistants within the Artist Development team.
In particular, we are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant experience within an arts organisation or freelance roles
- Knowledge of, and passion for, many genres of music and interdisciplinary arts
- An understanding of the needs of artists to be able to produce their best work
- Excellent Attention to detail, working with a high level of accuracy
- The ability to connect with people at all levels, building and maintaining effective and respectful working relationships
- Experience of working with complex budgets
- A collaborative approach, with colleagues and artists alike
