We are currently looking for an experienced Airfield Civil Engineer to join our team as a Project Director and help lead some of our exciting UK and international engineering projects. The role will require good knowledge and understanding of multi-disciplinary project technical and commercial delivery as well as client relationship management and people leadership skills.


Your new role, what's involved?

  • Leading the project setup, ensuring contracts are in place and teams are prepared for delivery.
  • Managing client relationships, ensuring projects are delivered successfully and clients are well informed about project progress.
  • Requesting and acting on feedback from the client to enhance the service they receive.
  • Ensuring all Health and Safety aspects of projects are considered and integrated into the design and documentation; carrying out regular Health and Safety reviews as required by the Company QA procedures.
  • Reviewing and monitoring the production of calculations; carrying out QA, technical reviews and sign off of all aspects of the design.
  • Conducting periodic project reviews, identifying, and mitigating risks for successful delivery.
  • Leading technical design reviews and value engineering workshops.
  • Driving quality, cost-effective solutions during the design process.
  • Ensuring timely and quality project delivery, evaluating for future improvements.
  • Identifying business opportunities and obtain referrals from clients.
  • Communicating commercial issues to the Team Lead.
  • Identifying additional fee opportunities for the business.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • A University degree relevant to civil engineering, construction, design or related discipline
  • Chartered or Incorporated Status (MICE, MCIHT or equivalent) or equivalent demonstrable experience is preferable but not essential.
  • Experience in managing large-scale projects, with a focus on winning work and commercial management.
  • Ability to lead and undertake airfield civils design from RIBA 1-5, including conceptual design, design specifications, detailed engineering design, calculations, project costing, site supervision and liaison work and project tendering for a variety of projects.
  • Understanding of both the needs of the client and the business when delivering a major project with a focus on achieving margin and contract compliance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction contracts (i.e. NEC)
  • Excellent communication and people leadership skills
  • Enjoy working in a team environment, sharing ideas, and collaborating with colleagues and be able to demonstrate a time when you’ve managed to do this successfully to solve complex problems.
  • You’ll have confidence to work under pressure with the ability to prioritise and plan effectively and be able to demonstrate a time when you’ve successfully managed to do this.
