Are you looking for an opportunity to develop project management skills?
Do you enjoy collaborating and building working relationships?
If so, we are looking for two Project Support Officers to join our North West Client Team, and we would love to hear from you.
As one of our Project Support Officers, you will support an experienced team of Project Clients with the day-to-day sponsorship of high-profile rail infrastructure projects in the North of England. We manage a portfolio of complex and large-scale rail infrastructure upgrades which sit at the heart of the Government’s levelling up agenda.
Our team covers projects at all stages of development. We develop business cases and progress them through the Department’s governance to identify and secure funding options. We ensure the rail projects are fit for purpose and aligned with the Government’s strategy.
You will be joining a friendly and committed team, focused on improving rail passengers experience in the North of England and ensuring value for money for the taxpayer. These roles provide the opportunity to collaborate with statutory bodies, local authorities, and delivery partners such as Network Rail, as well as colleagues across the Department’s Rail Groups.
In these roles you will develop invaluable project management skills whilst working across a range of disciplinaries and you will be supported to complete the project delivery professional qualifications.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Briefings and Correspondence: Leading the drafting and co-ordination of responses to Prime Minister’s Questions, Parliamentary Questions, Ministerial and other correspondence, and producing briefings for Ministers and senior leaders.
- Project Support: Supporting Project Clients with the day-to-day clienting of rail schemes, driving successful delivery to time, cost and quality, and reviewing and briefing senior management on project data and reports.
- Risk Management: Supporting Project Clients with their risk management, ensuring that risks and issues are captured and regularly monitored.
- Project Finances & Milestones: Collating, analysing, and sharing high-quality project management data on a routine basis, ensuring accuracy and consistency and enabling evidence-based decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Developing collaborative relationships with key partners, in particular Network Rail, Train Operating Companies and local authorities.
- Governance & Assurance: Coordinating and producing reporting packs for industry working groups and deep dives with the Rail Infrastructure Director General.
- Performing Secretariat duties for the North West Governance Boards and Manchester Task Force, arranging meetings, collating minutes and monitoring actions.
