Job description

This is an opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Psychological Therapy Practitioner to join our expanding Staff Psychological Wellbeing Service in a unique and varied role. You will be able to make a real difference to NHS staff, work in a supportive team environment, benefit from flexible working and have the opportunity to contribute to innovative practice and collaborative working.
You will be based mainly in Haverfordwest but will also be willing to travel to provide our service across other health boards sites in the 3 counties. We offer a blended model of engagement including the use of virtual platforms as well as face-to-face work, so some home working can be considered.
We are a friendly, supportive and hardworking team and work closely with a range of other services and teams across all three counties. We draw on evidence and best practice nationally but also value innovation and focus on continuous learning and improvement. We offer a good programme of support and supervision and the opportunity for professional development.
Staff wellbeing is a key priority for us in Hywel Dda and our service is highly valued by staff, managers and senior leaders. We work to promote and enhance the Psychological Wellbeing and emotional resilience of all our staff, as part of the wider Organisational Development agenda, to help create a positive, supportive and productive working culture.
We now have this opportunity for an experienced, self-motivated and enthusiastic Counsellor / Psychological Wellbeing Advisor to join us to provide a range of psychological services to managers, teams and employees. The role is varied and includes: the provision of short-term focused psychological support and therapy; contributing to the development, facilitation and evaluation of psycho-educational programmes; supporting Stress Risk Assessments and other organisational/team initiatives.
A professional qualification in Counselling or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to at least Diploma level is essential along with current membership and full accreditation with an appropriate and recognised professional body (such as the BACP or BABCP). Substantial post qualification experience in multi-disciplinary adult client work is essential, including assessment, brief solution-focused work and experience of workplace counselling. You will also have the skills and confidence to facilitate workshops and training sessions both online and in face-to-face group settings.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
You will be able to find a full job description and person specification attached within the supporting documents.
The Health Board is committed to supporting its staff to fully embrace the need for bilingualism thereby enhancing patient and service user experiences. In our commitment to increase the number of staff who are able to communicate in Welsh with patients and professionals, we welcome applications from Welsh speakers.
The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post. If you do not meet the Welsh Language requirements specified, the Health Board offers a variety of learning options and staff support to help you meet these minimal desirable requirements during the course of your employment with us.
Interviews will be held on 26/04/2024.
