About the role

The Rights of Way Officer role is based in the Green Infrastructure team and provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to join our Highways Maintenance team.

The role is to implement and advise on the maintenance, protection, improvement and promotion of access opportunities (Rights of Way, permissive access and other access) in line with the Council’s statutory duties and wider corporate objectives. It involves working with Community Groups, Partners and dealing with customer correspondence from Parish Councils and members of the public. You will be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written and be able to build relationships with land owners, customers, elected members, partner organisations and other stakeholders.

The Asset Information Team will work closely with you to manage the impact of development and associated network changes. Together you will protect our PROWs and ensure proposed changes is beneficial.

Interviews will be held at New Shire Hall, Alconbury Weald, PE28 4YE week commencing the 08/07/2024.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for all our Highways Green Infrastructure on the Public Rights of Way network, leading change in the way Cambridgeshire County Council manages and maintains our highway grass verges, hedges, shrubs and trees.

Our Highways Green Infrastructure is important to achieving nature recovery as part of our Climate Crisis response and you will be a big part in achieving our aims for nature.

 

 

About you

We are looking for a candidate who has practical experience of Rights of Way and who has a sound understanding of the relevant legislation. You will be responsible for dealing with all Rights of Way in South Cambridgeshire. You will be expected to deal with issues relating to Rights of Way, liaise with customers and stakeholders and attend meetings outside of normal working hours.

Ideally you will be educated to A level/GCSE standard or have extensive relevant knowledge and experience. The post will be based in the Whittlesford Highways Depot, but the ability to travel independently to different locations on a daily basis is essential to carry out site inspections and meetings with Cllr’s and other stakeholders in remote places
