Pupil Support Officer (Learning Community ) - fixed term until 28/06/2024
Forrester High School & Associated Primary Schools (Broomhouse, Carrick Knowe, Gylemuir & Murrayburn)
Salary: £26,788 - £30,751 (pro rata for part time and sessional)
Hours: 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional
Monday – Thursday 08:15 – 15:45, Friday 08:15 – 12:30
We are looking for a committed, passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our Learning Community as a Pupil Support Officer (PSO). We are looking for someone who is kind, patient, caring and passionate about making a positive difference to both pupils and their families. This is a new and exciting opportunity to work as part of the Forrester Learning Community team. Your role will focus in supporting and improving school attendance, engaging and building relationships with families to support participation in home and family learning and providing guidance and advice to families on a variety of issues.
The successful candidate will have experience working with children, young people and their families. They need to be able to use their initiative, be creative, well organised and effective communicators. This role will involve working across the Learning Community as well as providing support within the family home and so the ability to build positive, trusting relationships quickly is crucial. Experienced PSAs or those who can demonstrate their experience working with children and their families are encouraged to apply.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
