Purchasing Assistant

We're looking for an enthusiastic Purchasing Assistant / Junior Buyer to join our team in Biggleswade. You'll be joining a manufacturer and supplier of mostly bespoke end-of-line packaging machinery. Ideally with stock management experience and exposure to ERP systems this is a real opportunity to stand out in a small but established team.
BASIC SALARY: GBP25,000 - GBP35,000

JOB DESCRIPTION: Junior Buyer, Purchasing Assistant - Packaging Machinery, Manufacturing
Reporting to the Purchasing and Finance Manager your role as our Junior Buyer will be to assist with the purchasing of parts, control and management of stock holding and learning a new ERP system. You will be heavily involved in supplier relationships and be working closely with the sales and design teams.
In addition to this you will:
Work in a small purchasing team looking after circa GBP3 million of costs per annum - fabricated metal from the UK and parts from Europe mostly, but also Asia and some smaller machines from Taiwan
Chase up late deliveries
Champion our new ERP system
Develop and maintain a robust framework for stock control
Research and grow our current supplier list
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Junior Buyer, Purchasing Assistant - Packaging Machinery, Manufacturing
You'll have a proven track record of working in a purchasing environment. Ideally, you'll have worked closely with stock management and have some exposure to ERP systems, although we'll consider a variation of background.

You will be keen to improve process and SOP's as well as SLA's.
