Purchasing Manager

We are seeking a Purchasing Manager to join our team and make a significant contribution to the control of our cash-flow positions through effective stock level, turn, and forecasting management. This role is pivotal in driving strategic improvements in the management and availability of key products and categories, enhancing commercial opportunities and service delivery.
Day to Day of the role:
- Develop and sustain strategic purchasing plans aligned with business and commercial strategies.
- Negotiate SLAs and pricing structures with suppliers and regularly review supplier performance.
- Monitor stock and scheduling against demand, ensuring maximised availability of key product lines.
- Analyse stock gaps and lost sales due to product availability, recommending adjustments to the product portfolio.
- Manage, forecast, and report on the product portfolio, stock levels/turn, and working capital to improve business KPIs.
- Control external purchasing limitations such as production capacities, import quotas, and supplier credit limits.
- Serve as a point of escalation for enquiries, expediting, and supplier disputes.
- Provide monthly reporting against business & departmental KPIs.
- Implement opportunities for improvements in working practices and processes.
- Daily monitoring of sales orders, stock levels, and raising purchase orders to suppliers.
- Manage the cost of inbound container shipments and review quarterly.
- Assist in setting up pricing structures for mainstream products and monitor stock levels within set budgets.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Excel with the ability to analyse and present large volumes of data.
- Previous experience in supplier communication.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Essential experience as a buyer.
- Proven track record in planning & delivery, meeting customer needs, acting reliably & ethically, making decisions, and coping with setbacks.
