Rivermead Gate Medical Centre has an opportunity for an enthusiastic receptionist to join our friendly team on a part-time basis, for 16.5 hours per week (approximately 3 shifts). Working hours will be allocated 4 weeks in advance and you will be required to work some late evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Greeting and directing all patients.
- Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required.
- Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.
- Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints.
- Advising patients of practice procedures.
- Registering new patients. Answering the telephone, promptly.
About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will need to have:
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Good telephone manner.
- The ability to work under pressure and always maintain confidentiality.
- Previous general practice experience and knowledge of SystmOne is desirable but not essential.
- Flexibility as you will be required to work some late evenings and weekends on a rota basis.

We are situated in the centre of Chelmsford at the university campus with nearby rail links directly to London and easy parking to the practice.
Our practice has approximately 14100 registered patients and we currently care for one care home and one nursing home. We have a high QOF achievement and a Good CQC rating.
