ABOUT THE ROLE This is a fixed-term role for 13 months working 33 hours per week (94% FTE) Research Assistant position in the project funded by German Science Foundation. We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant who will lead and undertake a range of project activities to support the development of multivalent glycosylated microstructures against bacteria. Activities will include the synthesis of sugar derivatives, glycosylated polymers, conjugations on nanoparticle surfaces, and detailed analysis of different microstructures by a variety of characterization techniques such as DLS, NTA, SEM, TGA, etc. The post holder will work closely with the project Principal Investigator at Swansea (Dr. Sumati Bhatia), as well as external collaborators in the field of microbiology. The post holder will analyse data, daft patents, and prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications. The project aims to develop optimal glycostructures with bacteriostatic and bactericidal properties. Applications are sought from individuals with skills and experience in the field of organic synthesis, organic and physical characterization techniques. Experience working with nanoparticles or surfaces is highly desirable. The Research Assistant will be based in the chemistry department at the Singleton campus.
