About us The Division of Medicine is the largest department in UCL’s Faculty of Medical Sciences and is research intensive, with a near-equal mix of internationally renowned clinical and non-clinical scientists. Within the Division, this project is based in the Centre for Urological Biology at the Rayne Building on the Bloomsbury campus in Central London. You will have the opportunity to work with leading academics in a friendly and dynamic team. About the role This exciting project, generously funded by ConvaTec, a global medical product and tech company, is a collaboration between academic and industry. The project aims to develop a novel in vitro lab model for catheter-induced urinary tract infection (CAUTI). As a blend of cell biology, tissue engineering and microbiology, this role would be perfect for anyone interested in developing their skills in the context of an academic/industrial collaboration. Please note that starting salary will be at Grade 7 point 30 (£42,099 per annum) and appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis. About you • You will have a PhD in a relevant subject. This may include but is not limited to: biomedical science, microbiology, cell/molecular biology or tissue engineering • You will have an eagerness to learn new techniques, and the ability to work across disciplines and liaise with multiple collaborator groups • You will have passion, drive, curiosity and evidence of past excellent performance in academia • You will have the ability to organize your time well, take meticulous experimental notes and communicate about your work in both writing and orally • If you also have some experience in any of the following techniques: cell culture, organoid culture, tissue engineering, cell biology, high resolution fixed and live imaging, we definitely would like to hear from you!
