About us Join one of the Country’s leading Clinical Trials Units UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology was established on 1st August 2013 and is formally comprised of two research departments: The MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (MRC CTU) and the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (CCTU). The Institute also has two further units that are virtual members: The Cancer Research UK/UCL Cancer Trials Centre and the PRIMENT CTU. The Institute is a centre of excellence for the conduct of all phases of Clinical Trials, meta-analysis, and epidemiological studies, across a range of diseases. Key areas of focus for the Institute are continuing to deliver innovations in trial methodology to improve outcomes for patients and training and developing the next generation of trialists. The Institute works with academic collaborators in more than 60 countries worldwide and a significant number of commercial partners. The MRC Clinical Trials Unit is at the forefront of resolving internationally important questions, primarily in infectious diseases, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. A key goal is to deliver swifter and more effective translation of scientific research into patient and public health benefits. We do this by carrying out challenging and innovative studies and developing and implementing methodological advances in study design, conduct and analysis. The MRC CTU at UCL is a UKCRC registered trials unit. About the role The salary offered will be at Grade 6B/7 (£37,332 - £50,585) per annum depending on skills and experience. We are seeking health researchers to join our friendly collaborative trial methodology team. The post will focus on improving the evidence-base to support the efficient and appropriate use of healthcare systems dataset (routinely-collected healthcare data or electronic health records) for Clinical Trials. The postholder will have responsibility for day-to-day aspects of their projects, with those at grade 7 working more independently to organize and manage workload. The post-holder will ideally have experience of how a Clinical Trials unit functions and how trials are conducted OR have good knowledge of healthcare systems datasets for Research. They will engaging with the broader methodology community in addressing current challenges and disseminating the findings. This provides an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced person to develop in a world-leading trials unit. They will join a wider group of researchers working at the Unit, for whom there are opportunities for skills and career development. About you Applicants should have a suitable post-graduate qualification which could be in Clinical Trials, statistics, computer science, information systems or other relevant area. They should have a thorough understanding of research concepts and, ideally, practical experience of applying methods in medical research. They should be able to take initiative, prioritise and organise their own workloads. The role may suit someone recently or about to complete an MSc or PhD.
