Royalty Reporting Manager
Directors UK is the professional association of UK screen directors. It is a membership organisation representing the creative, economic and contractual interests of over 8,000 members – the majority of working TV and film directors in the UK. Directors UK negotiates rights deals and collects and distributes royalties to its members. It also campaigns and lobbies on its members’ behalf and provides a range of services including legal advice, events and career development. Job role and duties:
As a key member of the Distribution Team, this role will assist in the distribution of royalty payments to members, ensuring maximum accuracy and efficiency. This role will manage the reporting arrangements between Directors UK and broadcasters and producers to ensure usage reports are accurate, complete and delivered on time. The role will prepare the usage reports for allocation, provide analysis to inform the Directors UK distribution policy or support other stakeholders. With a continuous improvement mindset, this role will consider alternative tools or ways of improving data quality, streamline processes and keep up to date with industry trends to identify gaps in reporting and track down non-compliant companies. This role will also assist in issuing payments to members and dealing with members' queries relating to their payments or the distribution schemes in a professional and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities include the following:
- Manage the relationship with existing and new third-party companies to ensure that current and future usage reporting meets Directors UK’s requirements, and proactively work with these organisations to improve the standard of reporting.
- Analyse and prepare usage reports for processing, ensuring compliance with Directors UK distribution rules.
- Allocate and process payments received from UK broadcasters and foreign collecting societies and arrange distribution to Directors UK members and right-holders.
- Ensure high levels of data governance and integrity, accuracy, identifying data anomalies and reporting these appropriately with recommended solutions
- Help lead the identification and implementation of dashboarding solutions for areas of regular analysis and suggest tools or data to optimise general workflows, cleanse and allow greater flexibility in interpreting and utilising data
- Develop streamlined processes for the receipt, handling and formatting of user reporting
- Ensure that all processes are well documented and catalogued
- Identify opportunities for improving data and business processes, communicating these effectively and developing potential solutions
- Manage members’ queries effectively including those regarding reporting, ensuring all queries are responded to promptly and professionally
- Horizon scanning industry trends to identify changes impacting distribution for our members – for example gaps in reporting (i.e. new channels or platforms) or finding non-compliant companies and escalate appropriately
- Support any ad hoc data cleaning projects as and when required
- Ensure practices for data handling remain at highest standard and in accordance to GDPR.

Technical:
- Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, Zoom;
- Experience with handling, analysing and matching large volumes of data
- Experience with the testing and implementation of software development delivery
Knowledge:
- Experience of working in a collective management organisation, broadcaster, producer or similar organisation;
- Experience with royalties and/or distribution of film and television
- Experience with industry data sources such as BARB / TechEdge or similar;
- High degree of discretion, an awareness of handling confidential data, including some knowledge of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of and interest in Film & Television and the role of the director.
Previous experience with BI platforms like Tableau or Power BI

Reporting to: Director of Distribution
Salary: £40,000
Hours: 9.30am - 5.30pm
Work Days: Monday - Friday
Location: We support a flexible, hybrid working approach with an expectation of 50% of working time in our office, and 50% working remotely. Our Directors UK office is at 4th Floor, 22 Stukeley Street, London WC2B 5LR.
Contract: Full Time permanent
