Scuk Head Of Line 1 Financial Crime And Control

Santander Consumer Finance UK (SCUK) is based in Redhill, Surrey and provides motor finance to a network of dealerships throughout the United Kingdom.

We are currently looking for a Head of Line 1 Financial Crime & Control to join us in an important strategic role within operations. This position must ensure that all risks surrounding Financial Crime and fraud are managed appropriately and that SCUK operates in accordance with all applicable legislation and regulation.  As a result, it is expected that the role holder will have comprehensive knowledge and experience in these areas and be considered a subject matter expert.

This role is a hybrid role with at least 2 days a week in the Redhill office.

Responsibilities will include:

• Leads all L1 design and implementation activities for SCUK’s Financial Crime & Control strategies inc. AML, Sanctions, customer screening (PEP’s, SIP’s, SIE’s) & SAR disclosure
• Leads, motivates and manages the Line 17a0b09a6518d03fbca7f6e698ee8e6b Risk teams, setting smart objectives and encouraging demonstration of the Santander behaviours
• Leadership and escalation point for all L1 Fin Crime & Control activity and decisions
• Provide expertise and knowledge to the Operations Director to drive future Financial Crime & Control strategies for SCUK, its partners and all customers
• Leads the Strategic implementation of the Global Financial Crime platform
• Identify where any breaches, dispensations and waivers against group policies are needed and that these are managed and resolved within agreed timelines
• Develop and maintain an integrated, consistent approach to risk management in full compliance with the established Risk Management frameworks
• Create a proactive culture that enables the identification, assessment, measurement and reporting of Financial Crime & Control risks and ensures that effective controls are implemented and operated
• Ensures construction of realistic budgets for the Line 1 Financial Crime & Controls Risk functions, taking into consideration business forecasts and resourcing requirements
• Manages the overall budget for SCUK Line 1 Risk functions to ensure expenditure within budget, acting where required to manage any potential overspend
• Drives performance by ensuring that a culture of coaching, development and continuous learning is in place, enabling the teams to achieve their individual and combined potential
• Define and then implement a robust Financial Crime and Control framework(s) with a clear focus on customer outcomes, considering all business wide risks
• Monitor that customer interactions achieve the highest standards within the operations, in accordance with all regulations, including those outlined by the ICO and the FCA as well as those required by law
• Adhering to our commitment to Consumer Duty ensuring we put our Customers’ needs first and set higher and clearer standards of consumer protection

What we’re looking for:

• Significant and demonstrable operations, risk and Financial Crime experience and the ability to clearly articulate around the area of regulatory financial services operations environment associated with consumer credit activities
• A strong commercial awareness, with experience, and an understanding of operational and enterprise-wide risk frameworks including Financial Crime and quality frameworks, policies, procedures and processes
• A clear understanding of accountabilities within a matrix organisation (including three lines of defence)
• Previous experience in leading large multi-functional teams and being able to achieve results through people
• The ability to assess, manage and Control risk within the business functions
• Ability to make balanced risk-based decisions within own and departmental delegated authority
• Experience in managing high value budgets with a proven track record of successful budgetary oversight and Control
• Ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate information and make authoritative decisions and recommendations
• Has ideally worked within motor related financial services or as a minimum worked within a related services sector
• Strong interpersonal skills to persuade and influence others at all levels
• Experience in successful project implementations with ability to manage multiple, conflicting interests and deadlines
• Must be able to engage with internal and external stakeholders in order to reach mutually beneficial business outcomes, whilst demonstrating a customer-centric approach at all times
