Pastoral Assistant Headteacher Job – Secondary Phase

We are looking to appoint a Pastoral Assistant Headteacher for our Secondary Phase to join the Academy Senior Leadership Team. This post is equally suited to those seeking their first Assistant Headteacher post or to Assistant Headteachers seeking a new challenge. We would welcome applications from candidates who aspire to Headship and will support them in every way to achieve this.

St Matthew Academy is a high performing Catholic school where pupils flourish both academically and socially. In October 2019, Ofsted confirmed SMA as a good school where all pupils, through their hard work and commitment, are able to ‘let their light shine’. In Feb 2023, our CSI inspection stated ‘The behaviour of pupils is exemplary in lessons and around the school, and strong and positive relationships are evident throughout the school.’ We are proud that our pupils are able to learn in a disruption free environment resulting in strong progress for all. The successful candidate will be a highly visible, collaborative and aspirational leader who will model the highest levels of professionalism and inspire, motivate and develop staff and pupils. They will be supportive of and drive the Academy’s aim to ensure equity and diversity permeates throughout the Academy. They will work alongside the pastoral deputy head and another AHT, and be expected to take overall pastoral and academic responsibility for either KS3 or KS4, ensuring all pupils are able to flourish. The precise leadership responsibilities will be negotiated to suit the skills of the successful applicant and the existing team, taking into account their experience as well as the needs of the school.
