2 x Days shifts 07.00 – 19.00 (standard rate)
2 x Nights shifts 19.00 - 07.00 (enhanced rates after 22.00 midweek)

Maudsley Hospital is a leading mental healthcare institution dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to their patients. They are currently seeking Security Assistants to join their team to assist and ensure the safety and security of the hospital premises. This role is pivotal in maintaining the safety, security, and smooth operation of their brand-new hospital facility.
Key Responsibilities
Communication and Liaison:
· Engage effectively with patients, staff, visitors, contractor representatives, other estates professionals, clinical representatives, estates officers, team leaders, porters, and security staff.
· Provide a welcoming reception service, greeting all visitors, patients, and staff in a helpful, professional, and courteous manner.
· Offer accurate information and advice regarding hospital services to visitors and staff, handling inquiries both in person and over the phone.
Security and Monitoring:
· Patrol the hospital building to ensure safety and security.
· Monitor CCTV systems and respond to emergency alarms as required.
· Administer and manage the issuing and receipt of in-house system bleeps/alarm handsets, keys, fobs, and passes.
Emergency Response:
· Coordinate 24-hour fire and emergency response via the Ascom system, adhering to set policies and procedures.
· Monitor the fire alarm panel, BOLD system, and security alarm panels, providing fast and appropriate responses to all alarms.
· Liaise with Emergency Services when necessary, ensuring proper action is taken and accurate records are kept.
Incident Management:
· Act as the initial contact for crime reports, gather information, and ensure proper procedures are followed.
· Record all adverse incidents using the Trust Datix software.
· Investigate security breaches using CCTV, reporting and securing image data in accordance with departmental procedures and the Data Protection Act.
General Duties:
· Maintain the reception and control room areas in a tidy, well-organized, and professional manner.
· Report building, maintenance, and cleaning faults via the Planet reporting system and follow up as needed.
· Handle sensitive situations involving unwell, distressed, or anxious individuals with care and professionalism.
· Work independently within established parameters, responding to incidents and taking command of situations outside normal working hours if necessary.
Person Specification
· Experience in security monitoring and emergency response.
· Knowledge of data protection, privacy, confidentiality, and information governance.
· Ability to work independently and handle situations without precedent.
· Clear and concise telephone manner.
· Ability to deal sensitively with patients and relatives.
· Familiarity with the services provided within the hospital and the wider Trust.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Full training for all staff will be provided.
