Senior Distribution Product Governance Manager

Markerstudy Broking distributes and co-manufactures various personal and commercial insurance products that are the backbone for household names and respected brands. You will be responsible for ensuring that our products are fit for purpose, meet regulatory requirements, and are aligned with customers' needs. You will also be the catalyst that drives the design, development and delivery of new and innovative product improvements.

This is a hybrid opportunity that can be based at either of our offices in Peterborough, Portsmouth, Manchester or Sunderland.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • As a broker involved in both 'manufacture' and 'distribution' of personal and commercial insurance, this new role forms an integral part in the pragmatic design and effective, timely implementation of a Product Governance framework and change; meeting regulatory obligations and driving value across our broking division.
  • In line with relevant regulatory requirements, you will oversee timely reviews of our products to ensure that they represent fair value and avoid customer detriment, taking into account the design and development of the product itself and how it will be distributed.
  • Design, approve, distribute, oversee, drive change, and withdraw products throughout the lifecycle to ensure they deliver good customer outcomes and meet regulatory requirements; coordinating appropriate actions in response to findings by engaging key stakeholders and third parties.
  • You are required to build strong relationships across the value chain to ensure that information is shared and obligations are adhered to.
  • You'll work closely with stakeholders to raise awareness of the Product Governance function and ensure that a robust framework is embedded across the division.
  • Participating in product design and development meetings to ensure governance compliance.
  • Establishing product maintenance, performance metrics, tracking and reporting of both real-time/long term performance and adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  • Participating in the implementation of new regulations and policies to ensure compliance.
  • Providing product-related advice to various stakeholders to ensure that products are properly marketed and sold to the appropriate market.
  • Keeping up-to-date with market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes that may impact products.
  • Delivery of innovative initiatives, by identifying opportunities to maximise sales, and revenue opportunities.

Skills, Experience and Knowledge Required:

  • Demonstrable experience within the financial services industry is essential, desirable if this has been gained within a broking insurance business with both manufacture and distributor products.
  • Circa 5 years of experience in Product Governance, product management, risk management or other relevant experience.
  • Experience with regulatory change management and with strong working knowledge of the FCA's PROD and ICOBS handbooks, together with an understanding of the Product Governance requirements within a large insurance intermediary business.
  • Industry knowledge and understanding of competitor products/markets.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, successful candidates must be comfortable providing information to senior stakeholders and able to effectively manage challenge.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Commercially astute, good analytical skills, sound judgement and strong business acumen.
  • Experience in a leadership role and developing teams to success.
  • A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change (would be advantageous).
