Senior Legal Officer - Adults And Education Law

An excellent opportunity has arisen for 2 Senior Legal Officers to join a Local Authority in the East Midlands on a locum basis for an anticipated period of 6 months, although this may be extended further. One Senior Legal Officer will specialise in Education Law and the other shall handle all matters relating to adult social care law.

Both Senior Legal Officers will support solicitors on day-to-day responsibilities, which may include the following tasks:

• Collating bundles and assisting with witness statements
• Assisting solicitors with court of protection welfare issues;
  • School closures
  • Behaviour frameworks
  • School queries
  • Educational review panels
  • Pupil attendance
• Filed and served court documents to the various courts
• Updating the court diary within the requested time utilising the relevant diaries and visual files
• Updating case summaries and key dates
• Liaising with various courts for example, The Royal Court of Justice, Court of Protection or County Court
• Redacting documents as requested by the solicitor
• Attending meetings with various professionals and taking minutes
• Opening file requests in a timely manner
• Making and monitoring deputyship applications
• Updating case list tracker

This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly legal services team. Full-time hours would be preferred although a flexible working pattern may be considered. ***This role requires office attendance in the Coventry and Solihull area once a week.***
