Caring Together is the charity ensuring no unpaid carers across Cambridgeshire and Norfolk is in crisis and we are looking for a Senior People Advisor to help our teams achieve this.
As Senior People Advisor you will be working within a People Team who like to do things differently, who are focussed on providing a responsive, person-centred service to all of those we support. Our Senior People Advisor will be working alongside our managers to create an inclusive, supportive but results focussed environment where people are given the opportunity to do their best work. You will be advising on the full remit of the employee lifecycle and support a varied caseload including absence and performance management cases, you will have the opportunity to get involved with a variety of projects covering everything from well being and engagement initiatives to the development of our HRIS and data suite.
You will be an experienced, approachable and adaptable People/HR Advisor with experience of managing ER activity and a good working knowledge of UK employment law. You will be looking for a role where you can get to know the people you support, work autonomously and also be a fantastic team player who is ready to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in.
This role is perfect for those who are juggling caring responsibilities with working life offering 25 -30 hours a week with approximately 2 days in our lovely offices in St Ives and the rest working from home. Ideally you will be able to work a good spread of hours across the week to support operational requirements, but we are open to discussing options for greater flexibility.

Key accountabilities of the role
1. Deliver expert HR advice and support across the employee life cycle with the support of the Head of people and external legal advisors
2. Support managers to manage employee relations casework to conclusion including absence management, disciplinary and grievance processes, TUPE and redundancy.
3. Support in providing coaching and training to managers on best practice people management and helping them develop confidence in leading a team.
4. Participate in the implementation of specific projects, procedures and guidelines to help drive the alignment of the workforce with the strategic goals of the organisation.
5. Alongside other members of the People Team and the wider organisation be involved in the design and implementation of our EDI agenda ensuring all activity and decision making is inclusive and fair to all.
6. Support the recruitment process for employees and volunteers, including advice on recruitment and selection strategies.
7. Support the monitoring, development, review and implementation of relevant policies and processes to drive ensure they are up to date and user friendly.
8. Ensure data systems and record keeping are updated in a timely manner, communicating any relevant changes to the Payroll department.
9. Provide creative and expert insight to drive the development of HR initiatives including employee and volunteer engagement, reward, talent management and inclusion.
10. Provide first line advice on current and existing benefits for employees.
11. Drive HR performance to have a positive impact on operational requirements .
12. Actively track and review KPIs as well as supporting in preparing data and reports
We really need you to have:
- A CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience skills and knowledge
- Proven track record in a HR advisor role in a fast-paced environment
- Sound knowledge of current human resource legislation
- Ability to confidently articulate human resource issues and policy to staff and managers
- Ability to coach team members and colleagues to enable them to grow in their roles
- Excellent people skills and the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels
- Experience with MS programmes
- IT literate - good with data, ability to assimilate and use data to inform decisions: good Excel skills
- Experience of engaging with a diverse workforce
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to think creatively and solve problems
- Strong communication - written, verbal, digital with good attention to detail
- Good collaborative team player with the ability to work autonomously
- Able to work under pressure and cope with changing priorities

It would be an advantage if you have:
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives
- An interest in developing EDI initiatives
- Experience and knowledge of CIPHR
- Desire to take on responsibility and develop

Salary: £21,621 - £23,648 Pro-rated (£32,000 - £35,000 FTE)
