Senior Planning Officer

We are currently hiring for a Senior Planning Officer for a local authority in Totnes. This is a fantastic opportunity to assist the local authority in Development Management and work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

You will be required to provide professional advice throughout the processing of applications and will be required to collate and prepare evidence where appropriate for planning appeals.

*** This is a contract running from Monday 22nd January until Friday 29th March***

Job Description: -

• Assessing a range of planning applications in negotiation with applicants, professional agents, and other consultees, applying the appropriate policies fairly and consistently.
• Discussing and negotiating during the pre-application stage for a range of application proposals and agreeing and documenting and Section 106 Agreements.
• Providing clear and impartial advice and responding to queries from a range of stakeholders to include elected members, residents and developers.
• Producing and presenting clear and accurate reports articulating clearly both the proposal, the key determining issues and setting out appropriate recommendations.

Candidate: -

• Essential to have a degree in Town and Country Planning/Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
• Excellent working knowledge of planning legislation, national planning policy and planning reforms.
• Understanding of the S106 process and regulations.
• Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.

Working Week: -

• Monday to Friday 09.00am - 17.00pm
