The Greater London Authority are looking to recruit a Senior Project Officer on an interim basis until 31st May 2024.
You will lead and manage the delivery of impactful projects for children and young Londoners, such as the Mayor’s £34m New Deal for Young People. This role requires a proactive individual who can effectively scope and commission project and programme delivery in alignment with strategic priorities.
Day to Day of the Role:- Lead and manage the delivery of various projects aimed at children and young Londoners, ensuring alignment with the Mayor’s objectives.
- Scope and commission project and programme delivery to meet Mayoral and strategic priorities for young Londoners.
- Coordinate end-to-end delivery, including grant award, management, evaluation, and closure.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, systems, and processes, ensuring adherence to standardised project management practices.
- Manage budgets for all projects within your portfolio, ensuring accurate forecasting and compliance with financial processes.
- Resolve operational, contractual, and performance issues, escalating as necessary and implementing remedial actions.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, contributing to policy development and successful project delivery.
- Communicate effectively with senior staff and stakeholders, sharing knowledge and celebrating project successes.
- Engage with public stakeholders across the sector and represent the organisation in various forums.
- Advise and support deputy mayors, political advisors, and external organisations on projects, from inception to delivery.
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification, or demonstrable knowledge and skills gained through experience.
- Proven experience in developing, managing, and delivering large-scale, high-value projects in complex organisations.
- Track record of delivering results on target and within budget, ideally with a focus on children and young people’s projects.
- Expertise in programme and project management techniques, including planning, financial and performance management, risk management, and evaluation.
- Experience in establishing and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
- Strong understanding of children and young Londoners policy and engagement methods.
