Hunter Mason’s client is an established company offering a range of specialist glazing and façade services to commercial properties. They have now identified the need for a Quantity Surveyor, with façade, cladding, glazing and curtainwall experience to join their expanding team.
Responsibilities:
- Scrutinize project drawings and specifications to produce precise cost estimates for façade and glazing projects, considering materials, labour, and other relevant factors.
Cost Estimation:
- Scrutinize project drawings and specifications to produce precise cost estimates for brickwork and masonry projects, considering materials, labour, and other relevant factors.
Budget Management:
- Formulate and oversee project budgets, ensuring vigilant control of costs within approved parameters.
Tendering:
- Create and assess tender documents, collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers, and negotiate contracts to secure competitive pricing for façade and glazing projects.
Contract Administration:
- Supervise the financial aspects of contracts specific to façades and glazing, including payment applications, variations, and final accounts. Ensure strict adherence to contractual obligations.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential cost-related risks for brickwork and masonry projects and propose effective mitigation strategies to ensure on-time and within-budget project delivery.
Quantity Take-Offs:
- Conduct comprehensive quantity take-offs for façade and glazing materials and labour, providing precise data for project planning and procurement.
Collaboration:
- Forge close partnerships with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders for façade and cladding projects, offering valuable cost-related advice to contribute to overall project success.
Qualifications:
- Education: Preferable but not necessary: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a preference for expertise in façade and cladding.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction costs, materials, and techniques related to brickwork and masonry.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in relevant software, including Excel, cost estimating tools, and project management software.
