Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a meticulous and analytical Senior Group Revenue Manager to spearhead our Billing and Accounts Receivable function. In this newly created role, you will be tasked with ensuring accurate and timely invoicing for our customers while maintaining a thorough understanding of the terms outlined in our service contracts, in line with IFRS15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers. Reporting directly to the Group Finance Manager, you will oversee a team of two accountants responsible for billing and credit control within VIRTUS Group’s UK business. This pivotal role is integral to enhancing and upholding the integrity of revenue recognition within our financial operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the billing and credit control team to facilitate accurate and timely invoicing for customers.
- Conduct thorough reviews of invoices to ensure completeness and accuracy, resolving any discrepancies efficiently.
- Develop and maintain a robust process for reviewing customer contracts to document key terms impacting revenue recognition.
- Analyze customer contracts to determine appropriate approaches for recognizing contract revenue and lease income in compliance with IFRS15 and IFRS16, respectively.
- Prepare journal entries related to revenue recognition and ensure accuracy through collaboration with the Group Finance Manager and Group Reporting team.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements related to revenue, including necessary schedules and reconciliations.
- Stay abreast of changes in revenue recognition standards and contribute to periodic reviews of accounting policies and finance process documentation.
- Identify and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in revenue recognition processes.
What Success Looks Like in 12 Months’ Time:
- Development of a comprehensive process for reviewing new customer contracts and linking them to sales orders within the SAP billing module.
- Full automation and documentation of SAP functionality relating to IFRS15 revenue adjustments.
- Establishment of strong working relationships with Sales, Design & Build, and Data Centre Operations teams.
- Implementation of well-controlled processes for credit control and cash receipt allocation, supporting effective short-term forecasting of cash inflows from customers.
Person Specification:
- Chartered accountant with ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification.
- Detailed knowledge of applying IFRS15 and practical experience with IFRS16.
- Proficiency in SAP, ideally with hands-on experience in S/4 HANA and the Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR) module.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and ownership of tasks.
- Proficient in MS Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Previous experience in Finance within the data centre industry or related sectors.
- Awareness of SOX reporting implications on revenue accounting processes.
- Practical experience in effective credit control processes.
