The Learning Disability Service provided by Dumfries and Galloway’s Complex Care and Support Team supports young people and Health & Social Care Partnership supports young people and adults who have a range of needs including learning/ physical disabilities and autism spectrum conditions.
As the Senior Support Co-ordinator, you will supervise the Support Co-ordinators/Link Workers who will develop and deliver high quality person-centred community - based services and opportunities based on the principles of self-directed support, ‘The Keys to Life’ and Health & Social Care Standards.
You will help to develop, promote, and facilitate access to community-based opportunities to enhance skills, facilitate independence, improve health and wellbeing and participation in adult learning/work-related activities.
Reporting to the Manager (Day, Community and Home Support Services), you will assist in managing financial and other resources and ensuring compliance with national and service governance. In the absence of the Manager, you will be temporarily responsible for managing the service. You will be based in Castle Douglas and some support work may be carried out in a wider geographical area. You will be required to work various shift patterns which may include waking nights, evenings and weekends. Consideration will be given to preferred working patterns, particularly waking nights.

You must have a flexible approach to work under pressure, demonstrate some supervisory and leadership skills and possess some experience in the care sector supporting people with learning disability. You will undertake learning and development which will contribute to effective service delivery.
In this post you will be required to work 34 hours per week 52.14 weeks per year. Applicants should possess SVQ Level IV in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualifications).
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
