The Council’s Street Care service is responsible for the cleanliness of the whole borough and undertake a range of street cleaning and Street Care activities to ensure that public spaces across the Borough are maintained to a high environmental quality. The Council operates in accordance with code of practice on litter and refuse, thereby helping to provide an attractive and diverse environment, where people feel safe and secure.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated supervisor to play a key role in helping us achieve improved national standards of cleanliness. The postholder will, primarily be supervising the cleansing and removing of litter, fly-tips and graffiti from the highway and public areas as part of the Hit-Squad. It is anticipated that a proportion of the day will be dealing with our in-house systems to collect the jobs and recording statistical data, so a keen understanding of IT systems is essential. A current full UK driving licence is also essential for this role.
Based at our Freighter House depot in Springfield, the successful applicant will be required to work 37 hours per week and will normally work the following hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 15:30 and Friday 07:30 to 15:00. However, some flexibility will be required including earlier or later starts on occasions.
