We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Part-Time Student Academic Officer. This position offers the opportunity to support academic programs and services for students, contributing to their success and well-being during their educational journey. The Student Academic Officer will play a vital role in providing guidance, support, and assistance to students in various academic matters.
Responsibilities:
1. Academic Advising:
- Provide academic advising and guidance to students on course selection, degree requirements, academic policies, and program planning.
- Assist students in developing academic goals and creating personalized academic plans to achieve their objectives.
- Monitor students' academic progress and intervene as needed to address challenges or barriers to success.
2. Student Support:
- Serve as a resource for students seeking information and assistance with academic inquiries, concerns, or issues.
- Assist students in accessing academic support services, such as tutoring, study skills workshops, and academic accommodations.
- Provide referrals to appropriate campus resources for additional support, including counseling services, financial aid, and career counseling.
3. Academic Records Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date Student Academic records, including course registrations, grades, degree audits, and academic standing.
- Assist students with registration processes, course withdrawals, add/drop requests, and other academic transactions.
- Ensure compliance with academic policies, regulations, and procedures related to student records management.
4. Program Coordination:
- Assist in coordinating academic programs, workshops, seminars, and other events aimed at supporting student success and academic development.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to implement academic initiatives and promote student engagement in academic activities.
5. Communication and Outreach:
- Communicate regularly with students via email, phone, or in-person meetings to provide updates, reminders, and academic-related information.
- Participate in orientation sessions, academic advising sessions, and other events to engage with students and provide information about academic resources and opportunities.
_ Qualifications:_
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Previous experience in academic advising, student services, or higher education administration is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse student populations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in managing student records and academic transactions.
- Knowledge of academic policies, regulations, and procedures governing Student Academic affairs.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and student information systems.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
