If you are then the role of Supported Housing Officer presents the very challenge, you are looking for.
Two posts currently exist for the positions of Supported Housing Officers to join the Leaving Care Accommodation team. The post holders will provide key worker support to care leavers aged 16-21 to prepare them for independent living and whilst they are living independently in the community. They will be a point of contact to residents in supported accommodation, their own tenancy and in dispersed accommodation. They will ensure that the service provides a safe and welcoming environment.
One of the posts involves working on a rota to provide support in the semi-independent accommodation service. This includes working evenings, weekends and bank holidays. One post will be working Monday to Friday flexibly to cover the needs of the service and may include evenings.
We are seeking to appoint highly motivated individuals that will manage a caseload and ensure that all care leavers have focused support plans that achieves outcomes and preparation for independence. This will include to plan and implement risk assessments and risk management plans.

In this role you will:
Help care leavers overcome difficult circumstances and achieve independence.
Work independently and as part of a team in accommodation based services for care leavers
Liaise with multiple agencies to ensure effective communication across the service
Make internal and external referrals to a wide range of statutory and voluntary agencies for specialist support and employment and training opportunities
Support care leavers to manage their rent accounts and building their own personal budgeting skills
Ensure that the care leavers are aware of their rights and responsibilities under their occupancy agreement. Work with the care leavers to sustain their accommodation throughout their tenancy. Ensure that they have access to the correct benefits, maximising collection of rent and service charges and proactively managing any breaches of occupancy agreement.
The successful applicants will also have the ability to offer one-to-one and group support to care leavers including; to plan and facilitate independence workshops.
Our ideal candidates will have experience of working with young people and will be able to work positively with care leavers and ensure that they achieve significant progress.

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2024 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year.
