Talent Development Manager – TD Centre of Excellence

 

Based Birmingham or London

Hybrid working - currently ca two days per week in the office 

 

The opportunity

The Talent Development Centre of Excellence is a Regional team specialising in organisational and behaviour development, leadership development, transferable business skills, career milestones and transitions, onboarding, performance management, and facilitator and counsellor excellence. The team also leads the learning strategy for the CBS serviceline.

 

This management level position creates and shapes organisational and people development strategies and programmes for EY people in the UK and Ireland, from student hire through to partner development. Working in conjunction with CoE leaders, the role involves developing TD strategic initiatives, engaging cohorts of learners in meaningful skills and career development experiences, influencing and consulting stakeholders, bringing expert insights across the specialist areas for which the CoE is accountable, scaled and niche programme design, facilitation and operational execution of CoE deliverables, managing trusted and commercial supplier relationships and conducting business impact evaluation on the work of the CoE.

 

Core to your skillset will be experience in the sphere of developing transferable business skills and leadership capabilities, L&D design, facilitation and course/programme management, stakeholder consultation and relationship management, engaging suppliers, and manging people and teams. 

 

Using your functional expertise, consulting skills and insights gained from your cross-Talent experience, you will design, deploy and evaluate programmatic approaches to the skills honing, career development and promotion milestones and role transitions for our people. Working with business stakeholders and cross-Talent professionals, this Region-focused role is part of a fantastic team who ensure our approach is innovative, leading edge and meets the evolving needs of a contemporary business as we seek to provide exciting, stretching, inspiring and developmental paths that attract, engage and retain populations of talent.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • In collaboration with CoE leaders, design and deliver strategies for TD CoE programmes and projects
  • Articulate a clear and compelling vision for the development and delivery of TD priorities and solutions, including the internal and external business landscape in which they are positioned
  • Work with SLs / other Talent functions (e.g. Talent Consulting) to identify requirements, determine priorities and design initiatives relating to the portfolio of the CoE
  • Build brand and credibility for the portfolio of the CoE, aligning offerings with EY’s leadership model and DE&I priorities
  • Own, plan, design, deploy and evaluate programmes, projects and courses, delivering high quality, end-to-end programmatic offerings from the CoE
  • Advise, provide direction, define objectives and influence successful delivery of CoE offerings
  • As a subject matter expert, understand latest trends and deliver insights relating to the development of leadership capabilities, transferable business skills and career development across multiple populations
  • Adopt consulting skills to develop deep understanding of business issues, building close working relationships with colleagues to deliver integrated, seamless and consistent x-business services - collaborating with external experts, suppliers and thought leaders as required
  • Secure buy-in from business and Talent stakeholders to participate in programmes of skills and capability development and career planning that will engage and motivate talent populations and increase their intent to stay at EY
  • Lead and manage people and teams, investing in the development of others, and maintaining the CoE culture of high performance teaming
  • Manage team resources, including budget, and team performance to achieve business targets, adopting a commercial mindset and approach

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Functional expertise in Talent Development, including design, facilitation and deployment of TD interventions, ideally in the space of developing behaviour change, OD, transferable business skills or leadership capability
  • People management capability, investing in the development of others, through coaching, counselling and high-performance teaming solutions
  • Agility and adaptability to move with emerging business needs and attention to high quality services and products that meet business requirements
  • Ability to engage in thought leadership, using creativity and curiosity to bring insights to the work of the CoE
  • Commercial ability to manage resources and demonstrate strong business awareness
  • Good change and project management and a desire to act as a change champion
  • Stakeholder management / business consulting with strong client focus and the ability to network, manage relationships and work virtually and across borders & cultures
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills and ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across the organisation at all levels
  • Open mindedness to and experience of technology and digital solutions that enhance TD services

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Functional expertise and experience of working in HR/Talent/Talent Development in professional services or a large, complex corporate environment
  • Strong team working and team management skills, with an enthusiastic, can-do, flexible approach, and ability to collaborate to work as ‘one team’

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Qualification, certification or accreditation in relevant Talent Development disciplines, such as CIPD, behaviour profiling, talent assessment or executive coaching
  • Functional experience in the space of developing behaviour change, OD, transferable business skills or leadership capability
