Hertfordshire County Council is expanding its Leaving Care workforce and has an exciting opportunity within our service for a Care Leaver Team Manager post. Join our well-established and dynamic management group, where you will play a central role in supporting the needs of our Care Leavers as they transition into adulthood.
About the Role:
As the Team Manager, you will lead a team of Leaving Care Personal Advisers, supported by a Consultant Social Worker. Your team will assist Care Leavers in transitioning from being Children Looked After to independent adults. Your responsibilities will include safeguarding Care Leavers, collaborating with other services, staff supervision, overseeing pathway plans and risk management, and leading your team to achieve optimal outcomes for our Care Leavers.
You will work in a highly dynamic and supportive management group that engages with Care Leavers and Separated Migrant Children. The role is fast-paced yet rewarding, allowing you to witness the growth and progress of Care Leavers towards independence.
Requirements of the Role:
Essential:
- Knowledge of, or direct experience working with Care Leavers
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
- Line management experience
- Familiarity with legislation, guidance, policy, and procedures
- Ability to support teams in conducting robust assessments and managing/assessing risk
- Proficiency in working in a relationship-based manner
- Understanding of equality and diversity in Social Work
- Capability to input and maintain accurate computerised information and records
- Ability to work independently, manage, and prioritize workload under pressure
Additionally, you must possess a driving license and have access to a vehicle for work purposes, as travel is required for this role.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of legislation, guidance, policy, and procedures specific to Care Leavers
- Experience working with children and young people subject to or at risk of exploitation, including modern-day slavery and trafficking
- Ability to collaborate with other services to support the needs of Care Leavers
You will work within a highly dynamic and supportive management group, with access to excellent supervision and training opportunities. Your role will be central in supporting Hertfordshire Care Leavers to lead happy and fulfilled lives, achieving outcomes, and fulfilling our corporate parenting role.
