Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, play a key role in preparing 2023-24 year-end accounts together with accounting changes in 2023-24. You will provide expert advice on a range of financial and accounting issues, ensuring accounts complies with International Accounting Standards and will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, analysing financial data, and providing recommendations to improve financial processes.
Responsibilities:
As a Technical Accountant reporting to the Financial Accountant, you will:
- Support the lead financial accountant in year-end accounts production.
- Liaise with auditors to address queries during the year-end audit.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to gather evidence and assurance for key accounting adjustments.
- Assist in month-end management accounts processes and adjustments.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording and classification of transactions.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including vendor payments, customer invoicing, and credit control.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash balances and identify discrepancies for resolution.
Requirements:
- Part Qualified Accountant with Government/Public Sector experience or has implemented changes to accounting standards.
- Experience creating financial models and analysing financial data (Excel or other financial reporting products).
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines, particularly in year-end accounts production.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of liaising effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
