RESOURCE ADVISOR - TEMP CONTRACT
Main purpose of job:
To be responsible to the appropriate line manager for assisting in the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and effective service, including the application of basic Information Technology skills.
To perform assigned duties and tasks, either as part of a team or individually as required, in accordance with specified time and quality standards including the prioritisation of own workload when necessary.
To represent the appropriate line manager in routine day to day matters as necessary within the post holder’s sphere of responsibility.
To further the aims and objectives of the Alleygating project.
To act in accordance with the council’s customer care principles
Summary of responsibilities and personal duties
1.Attend briefings at Belfast City Council before deployment into each area.
2.Plan routes according to the properties required to visit.
3.Deliver the information booklet to each household / business in each project area.
4.To collect the information booklet to every household / business in each project area.
5.Advise members of the public on the completion of the questionnaires and the reasons why they should respond, whilst presenting a positive image of the Council at all times.
6.Where no contact can be made, leave a calling card indicating what residents need to do and/or when you plan to call again.
7.Arrange process of return visits to collect agreements from hard to reach households to ensure that a 100% agreement is achieved.
8.Collate and return all completed questionnaires to the project officer.
9.Maintain a high level of customer care and deal with internal and external customers of the service either face-to-face or by telephone and e-mail as required.
10.Ensure that residents’ personal information is handled securely and only for the purpose(s) it is given at all times.

Qualifications and experience
Applicants must:
•have a full, current driving licence which enables them to drive in Northern Ireland, or have access to a form of transport which enables them to carry out the duties of the post in full1; and
•be able to demonstrate by providing personal and specific examples, at least one year’s relevant experience, gained in the workplace, of:
a)dealing with members of the public as part of their daily duties in a face-to-face environment, including dealing with confrontational situations;
b)compiling and analysing service information; and
c)undertaking marketing and promotional activities and events.

However, please be advised that, given the business need for the postholder to promote recycling, re-use and waste minimisation through providing doorstep advice and education to postholders and the business community across the city, the ‘reasonableness’ of this adjustment will be thoroughly considered prior to any appointment being made.

Hours: 37 per week
Salary: £12.38 per hour plus accrued holiday pay
Start Date: 28 April to June (temp contract may be extended)
