Position Overview: This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to pursue a career in accounting while gaining practical experience and obtaining relevant qualifications. The successful candidate will work as part of a small finance team to deliver monthly accounts, management reports and process tax returns. Under the guidance of the Head of Finance, the Trainee Junior Accountant will have the chance to develop essential skills and knowledge in accounting principles and practices. The role is primarily office based and hours are 9 to 5, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, reconciliations, and credit control.
- Learn to use accounting software and systems to input and analyse financial data accurately.
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
- Conduct basic financial analysis and assist in the preparation of management reports.
- Provide administrative support to the accounting team as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A levels or equivalent qualifications in numerical or business-related subjects.
- GCSE’s in Maths & English Language at grade 5/C or above.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in finance or bookkeeping is an advantage but not a requirement.
