The U.S. Embassy in London seeks a Speechwriter for the U.S. Ambassador and Deputy Chief of Mission, and other senior officials, to provide clarity and consistency in public remarks across our diplomatic mission.
The incumbent researches, prepares, obtains clearance, and provides texts for speeches, talking points, social media scripts, and themes for use in diplomatic and public outreach activities. Develops and maintains productive relationships with public policy institutes, international relations commentators, think tank and university contacts. Supports Public Diplomacy leadership in Strategic Communications, message testing, and target audience refinement.
Requirements include: University degree in communications, business, marketing, international relations, public policy, or equivalent. Good understanding of U.S. historical, political, economic, and/or cultural forces. Detailed knowledge of speechwriting formats, market (audience) analysis.
