This media team is responsible for securing positive media coverage for all of these local authorities departments and activities. This involves daily dealings with the London, national and international media.
The Media Officer is responsible for proactively securing positive coverage across print, broadcast and digital media for the organisation's stakeholders.
This will involve working with journalists on issues affecting the UK financial and professional services industry, as well as reacting swiftly and effectively to the news agenda to secure coverage.
This role also promotes positive coverage of the organisation's activities and special events.
Your new role
1. Working with the Executive Director of Communications and External Affairs, primarily to tell the story through print, broadcast and digital media of how the organisation supports and promotes the UK financial and professional services industry.
2. Establishing, developing and maintaining excellent and wide-ranging contacts in the media and having a good and close understanding of their needs in order to achieve positive coverage for the organisation. Utilising Social Media to maximise the impact of opportunities through a wide range of platforms.
3. Understanding the work of relevant committees and departments to ensure that opportunities are taken to publicise their key activities and decisions.
4. Establishing, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with many of the organisation's elected members and officers and act as an important link between these groups, the Communications Team and the wider organisation.
5. Developing a good understanding of our overall communications work.
6. Researching, organising and writing statements, news releases, photo-ops, profiles, authored articles, briefings and other related tools designed to secure media coverage.
7. Monitoring the outcome of media activity and measuring it against input in order to help prioritise those media-driven activities which generate the best and most appropriate coverage most efficiently.
8. Maintaining a good level of knowledge of those areas of the organisation's Media Team's work outside the post holder's regular responsibility to be able to assist, when necessary, in all aspects of the work of the Communications Team.
9. Providing strategic media and communications advice to senior members and officers, in particular the Policy Chairman and other senior leaders/stakeholders.
10. Assisting in the planning and management of high-profile media events.
11. Responding to all media enquiries received to meet deadlines. To act as a spokesperson as appropriate.
12. Building strong relationships with relevant external organisations, government departments, TheCityUK and with business nationally and internationally in order to develop and secure positive media coverage for the organisation.
What you will need to succeed
This dynamic and supportive team require an experienced Media/Communications Officer with Financial Services experience ideally.

The role is likely to be for a duration of around 3 months whilst a permanent Media Officer is being recruited.
This is a hybrid role based in the office 1 or 2 days per week, the rest working from home.
