Youth Worker

We are currently recruiting for Band 4 Social Work Assistants and Band 5 Youth and Community workers across Belfast.

We have roles in Beechall, Shankhill, Carlisle, Knockbreda, Knockbracken and Bradbury Centres.

Hours will be Mon – Fri – 1700, with some evening hours required on ad hoc basis.

These are all full time. Rolling 3 month contracts. You must be NISCC registered to apply.

YOUTH WORKER - KEY RESPONSBILITIES - Salary set £14.53ph

• Provide holistic support for the young people to meet their individual needs. Acting as an advocate to multiple services including hospital, education and employment. This requires good communication skills, active listening skills and to be empathetic towards the young person's needs.
• Provide support and guidance to the young people during their healthcare transition between children's and adult services.
• Supporting patients on the wards throughout their treatment whilst they are unwell. The Youth Worker should have the ability to deal with challenging situations in the healthcare setting, have a degree of resilience and be able to work in clinical areas.
• Plan and run Youth Club sessions and off site activities, including residential weekends,
• Being creative, dynamic and self-motivated are desirable attributes of the Youth Worker.
• Be part of the staff team who support the Youth Forum.
• Work with the multi-professional team, building relationships and working within Youth Worker professional boundaries.
• Good working knowledge of computer systems and documenting to a high standard is essential.

CRITERIA:

• Youth Work Diploma or equivalent in youth work, or Social Sciences (Dip HE /JNC level) or relevant qualification
• Experience working with young people aged 11-25 yrs in a healthcare setting or equivalent setting
