An exciting opportunity has become available to work in the Accommodation Team, at the Council’s Housing Needs Service.
The Accommodation Team is responsible for sourcing and providing emergency temporary accommodation for homelessness households in Wakefield.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, organised and flexible team player to join the team as an Accommodation Assessment Officer. The role involves interviewing homeless individuals and assessing their housing needs to evaluate what suitable emergency temporary accommodation the service can provide . The post of the Accommodation Assessment Officer is very varied and rewarding role which will give the post holder the opportunity to work closely with vulnerable people in the Wakefield district and help them to access temporary accommodation.
The Housing Needs Service is an emergency service and we often have to work outside of our office hours until all homeless applicants have been provided temporary emergency accommodation. This role is a mixture of office and homeworking as a proportion of our tasks are completed face to face.
