Accountant

Join a dynamic and forward-thinking team at a North London independent School, where they are dedicated to providing high-quality education and exceptional service to students and staff. We are currently seeking a skilled Accountant to oversee and enhance our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert guidance and support to our Payroll Officer, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing
• Conduct thorough bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records and resolve any discrepancies
• Prepare and manage monthly management accounts, offering insights and recommendations for financial planning
• Handle all aspects of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and timely submissions
• Oversee the Teaching Pension Scheme, ensuring all contributions and payments are accurately managed
• Lead the month-end closing process, including the preparation of financial statements and reports
• Address and resolve any school fee issues, ensuring all accounts are up to date and accurate
• Utilize SAGE 200 for all financial operations, maintaining data integrity and optimizing system functionality

Person Specification:

• Proven experience in a similar finance management role
• Proficiency in using SAGE 200
• Strong knowledge of VAT regulations and experience in handling VAT returns
• Familiarity with payroll processes and pension scheme management
• Experience working in the Education sector is highly desirable
• Currently hold, or willingness to have an enhanced DBS check
