PETA Ltd are proud to be working with Morris Crocker to recruit an Accounts Apprentice to support the business with a range of financial and administrative duties. You will work under the supervision of a senior accountant within the business, to support you in building a rewarding career within the finance industry.
Training to be provided:
Level 3 Accountant Assistant Apprenticeship Standard. You will complete a 18-month apprenticeship which includes 1 day per week at the PETA training centre in Cosham. You will be supported every 6 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach.
Please note, to be considered for this opportunity you must already have the AAT Level 2 qualification.
As an Accounts Apprentice you may work for private companies and individuals, charities and not for profit organisations, medical practices and other healthcare providers. Your duties can include some or all of the following:
- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and reports
- Assisting with the completion of accounts, tax forms and returns
- Assisting with audits
- Bookkeeping
- Administration and support for accounts team
- Providing support with payroll and outsourcing departments
- Input income and expenses entries into accounting software
- Meet the demands of qualification requirements and work with the training provider to ensure qualification is obtained within set timescales
- Attend college/training provider as and when required
- Meet deadlines of college/training provider
- Maintain a confidential (manual and electronic) filing system to ensure that accurate up to date information is available
- Prepare and despatch letters and e-mails as directed to the required standards and timescales
- Respond to basic requests for information relating to the Finance service
- Undertake filing, photocopying, collation of information and general clerical work
- Undertake standard word-processing, presentation work, spreadsheet work and database input as required
- Data accuracy and data checking
- Comply with Health and Safety requirements
There is the possibility for the suitable and successful candidate to move into a full-time role upon completion of the apprenticeship.
Essential Skills:
It is essential that the Accounts Assistant Apprentice has the following skills and personal qualities:
- 5 or more GCSEs at grade 4/C or above to include Maths and English
- Good A/AS Level results – ideally at least one in maths or accounting
- Integrity and discretion
- Computer literate
