Assistant Accountant

Salary: GBP13 - 15 per hour

CMA Recruitment Group are working exclusively with a growing SME based in Millbrook, Southampton, to help them recruit a newly created Assistant Accountant role on a temporary basis. This position will report into the Finance Manager and support with transactional and month end procedures.
What will the Assistant Accountant role involve:
Monitoring ledgers (closing at month end) and posting journals;
Prepare financial statements at month end;
Accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and P&L reports;
Oversee the inventory management process including procurement, stock levels and reconciliations (30% of the role);
Support with purchase and sales ledger invoicing;
VAT returns.
Suitable candidate for the Assistant Accountant role:
Studying towards a professional qualification (ACA/ ACCA);
Some experience within manufacturing/ inventory management would be beneficial;
Strong attention to detail and capable of working independently;
Excel skills to an Int/ Adv level including v-look ups, pivot tables, sum-ifs.
