About the role
We are looking for someone to join our finance team to support the growth of our business. The role will support all aspects of the finance function, but will lean towards accounting and bookkeeping duties. The role will provide support for regular financial reporting and provide assistance with day-to-day finance processes. The Assistant Accountant will have exposure to a breadth of finance tasks (as per the below) as well as adhoc finance projects. This is a really exciting opportunity to join a finance team in a fast growing start up focused on scaling climate action.
The role is initially a part-time temporary position, with the view that it will become a permanent role in the future.
The day-to-day
Bank reconciliation - daily reconciliation in accounting software to ensure all invoices and receipts are uploaded ahead of month-end
Bookkeeping - ensuring all prepayments, accruals, and adjustments are accurate in preparation for monthly management reports
Accounts payable - assist with weekly supplier payment run and ensure that suppliers are paid on time
Accounts receivable - sending invoices to our growing list of business customers
VAT returns - assist with VAT returns
Ad hoc finance projects - working across stakeholders within the business to support projects that require finance input
About you
Part qualified or studying for accounting degree (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/AAT) or previous bookkeeping/accounts experience
Strong attention to detail and enjoy detailed oriented work
Excel competency
Self starter attitude who has the ability to work in a high-growth and fast paced environment
Be well-organised and able to work independently and seek support from the wider team when needed
Time management skills - ability to adapt to changing priorities regularly and unphased by deadlines and changing workload
