Location: Birmingham Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range £45,585 to £54,395 with potential progression once in post to £61,198. Grade 8 Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Permanent Closes: 18th February 2024 Job Ref: 102855 Please note: We are advertising both Assistant Professor and Associate Professor, however there is only 1 post available Academic Development Programme New Assistant Professors will undertake a 5-year development programme, at the end of which they are expected to be promoted to Associate Professor. The programme consists of a variety of development opportunities and the time to reflect and develop. To underpin the improvement of global oral health, research in Microbiology with a focus on the oral microbiome and oral biofilms is essential. The successful candidate will take a multidisciplinary approach to developing their own research niche that integrates both within our School and across relevant areas of the University including the Institute of Clinical Sciences and Institute of Microbiology & Infection. You will have a PhD in a relevant subject area, and you will have already demonstrated the potential to become a leader in your field and a track record of academic research that stands apart from your peers. You will also have a clear vision on how your research and expertise will contribute towards the key translative areas of microbiology within oral, dental and wider biomedical fields. You will also contribute to current undergraduate and taught postgraduate education with the opportunity to develop new programmes that demonstrate your teaching excellence and innovative ideas. Role Summary This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated researcher to become an integral part of a dynamic research community. In this role, your primary teaching responsibilities will include the development and Lead for Post-Graduate programme in Microbiology and Oral Biology. You will also play a key role in our innovative major-minor program, collaborating closely with the Biomedical Science-Biomaterials programme. Additionally, you will lead the Infection theme within our Human Diseases module as part of our undergraduate BDS programme.
