We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the procurement team as an Associate Director, Direct Procurement. This exciting and challenging role will focus on leading the Direct Procurement team and manage direct suppliers across Risk, Quality, Speed and Cost. As well as ensuring the team and processes develop as the business scales, the supply chains will need to evolve to meet global and industry changes.
Job Summary
As Oxford Nanopore continues to deliver on its "high growth" objectives, the Direct Procurement Team will be instrumental in this success by scaling and de risking our supply chains whilst ensuring effective TCO. Sustainability is a key part of the overall business objectives and a significant impact to address this can be found within our supply chains. In addition, the role will provide Procurement and direct category management support to improve operational performance and regulatory compliance across Nanopore's supply base. Category strategies will require developing across risk, quality, speed and cost and that align with company, industry and global changes.

Key Responsibilities
Manage the Procurement Team and processes for direct product and service categories ensuring alignment with organisational policies and objectives. The Associate Director, Direct Procurement should collaborate with both the internal community of stakeholders and our wide variety of global suppliers to understand the vision of the business and drive change and category strategies to support the vision and objectives.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the Direct Procurement team across various categories and ensure alignment with wider business objectives and the procurement policy and strategy.
- Contribute to developing processes and systems to improve operational performance and drive change through the team and the organisation.
- Manage procurement processes including sourcing processes, SRM, new product introduction and contracts management to ensure purchasing at the best price for products and services without sacrificing quality or delivery.
- Work with ESG and Risk team to identify, assess and manage risk and drive improvement to ESG across supply chains
- Monitor commodity trends and product availability.
- Supplier relationship and performance management across quality, delivery lead-time, delivery on-time, service and cost.
- Identify and researches potential new suppliers.
- Research new products and services.
- Assess total cost of ownership of supplier / category portfolio.
- Develop and implements strategies for procuring products or services to business requirements within regulatory frameworks.
- Improve supplier development and contractual performance and metrics across the team and supply chains
- Develop stakeholder engagement with supplier business review process
- ERP systems and databases reporting.
- Develop procurement processes and documentation for portfolio.
- Develop, improve and maintain a supplier compliance framework in line with business policies and regulatory requirements.
Any other duties as might be required within the remit and responsibilities of the post.
